Research

The European Society for the Study of Tourette Syndrome (ESSTS) was founded in Copenhagen in 2000 by Professor Mary Robertson and a group of colleagues.

ESSTS is dedicated to harmonizing European research on Gilles de la Tourette Syndrome (TS) and related disorders, offering a platform for global outreach and educational initiative.

A significant accomplishment of the Society has been the development of best practice guidelines for diagnosing and treating TS. Additionally, ESSTS has played a crucial role in securing research funding for pan-European collaborations, aiming to uncover the underlying causes of TS.

The annual ESSTS conference serves as a key gathering for participants from around the globe.

Furthermore, ESSTS has been involved in the inception of European Tourette’s Day, observed every June 7th, in collaboration with a European network of TS support and advocacy organizations.

TTAG values the partnership and expanding collaboration with ESSTS.

To carry out our mission and tasks, we work through various committees with expertise in various important areas of our objectives.

One of TTAGs important missions is to support and participate in national and international research, including increased patient and public engagement (PPI) and patient-driven research a.o. by upfront inclusion in definition of study concept and design.
