Plain-Language Insights: What Happens During Pregnancy if You have Tourette Syndrome or Chronic Tic Disorder?



A Swedish population-based study (2001–2021) suggests that pregnant women with Tourette syndrome or chronic tic disorder (TS/CTD) have an increased risk of gestational diabetes and cesarean delivery, while their infants do not appear to face higher risks of adverse outcomes. The findings underscore the importance of attentive prenatal care for this group. However, it is important to recognize the limitations of registry-based data.
