For the third consecutive year, the German National Tourette Association (TGD) proudly participated in the Erasmus+-funded International Tourette Camp, this time hosted in Detmold, Germany. The group of 36 young adults with Tourette Syndrome (ages 18-30) spent an inspiring week with participants from other European countries engaging in activities such as hiking, climbing, creative workshops, and intense discussions, all within a supportive and judgment-free environment.
One participant beautifully encapsulated their experience, sharing, “I realized that this was what freedom meant to me and what truly defined this journey: to be free from the burden of being different, of standing out, of being loud, of being ‘too much.’ Free from the constant, consuming thoughts about it. Free from the routines, mechanisms, and conditioning that have developed around my tics over the years.”
