Lifespan Perspective on Tourette Syndrome
This presentation offers a comprehensive look at Tourette Syndrome from childhood through adulthood, exploring how tics develop, evolve, and impact daily life across the lifespan. Participants will gain insights into developmental paths, variability, and key life transitions, including school, work, and healthcare changes.
Understanding Co-Occurring Conditions and Tourette Syndrome
In this session, participants will explore the complex relationship between Tourette Syndrome and common co-occurring conditions such as OCD, ADHD, and anxiety. The presentation will highlight how these conditions influence the course of tics, daily functioning, and overall quality of life across the lifespan.
Attendees can expect insights into how co-occurring conditions affect assessment and management, practical strategies for supporting individuals at different life stages, and considerations for optimizing care, education, and psychosocial well-being.
TS in Real Life – Challenges, Obstacles, and the Unknown
Living with Tourette Syndrome (TS) extends far beyond tics. In this session, we shine a light on the real-life experiences of individuals with TS, exploring the challenges, obstacles, and uncertainties they face every day.
Through personal testimonials, participants will gain authentic insights into the social, emotional, and practical aspects of living with TS across different stages of life. These stories highlight both the resilience of the TS community and the areas where greater understanding and support are needed.
The session also features an interactive breakout discussion, allowing attendees to engage directly, ask questions, and reflect on strategies to better support individuals with TS in clinical, educational, and social settings.
Therapeutic Approaches Across the Lifespan: Supporting People, Not Just Tics
This session will highlight how pharmacological and behavioral interventions can be tailored to age and co-occurring conditions in Tourette Syndrome.
Tics are visible, but it is the story built around them—the emotional experiences, social challenges, and self-perception—that shapes a person’s life. Effective intervention goes beyond symptom management: it is about walking alongside someone on their journey, helping them inhabit their body with confidence, acceptance, and without shame.
Participants will explore strategies that support individuals across childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, addressing both tics and psychosocial well-being.
AFSGT Project ‘Livre Blanc’: Behind the Tics – Understanding the every day life of those living with TS
We’re taking a peek into the book project that explores the specific aspects of everyday challenges faced by those living with Tourette Syndrome grounded in the French context, the challenges and lived experiences highlighted in this project reflect common realities faced by individuals with Tourette Syndrome worldwide.
