Aliza Visagie

Professionally, Aliza helps drive impact growth, build iconic brands, and strategically lead marketing
innovation.

Personally, Aliza is a proud mother of two beautiful children, supported by a loving husband, and has a
special place in her heart for animals.

Her journey with Tourette Syndrome began with great uncertainty. At the age of 6, her son was
diagnosed with provisional Tics, which over time developed into Tourette Syndrome (TS). In his own
gentle way, her son shared, “I have Tourette’s. It’s part of me… not all of me.”

Living in South Africa, Aliza quickly recognised the significant lack of awareness and accessible information surrounding Tourette syndrome (TS) and its co-occurring conditions. This realisation has driven her commitment to raising awareness and reshaping public perceptions.

Aliza is passionate about changing the narrative around tic disorders and TS. She believes that true awareness goes beyond knowledge—it requires fostering acceptance, encouraging inclusion, and creating space for understanding. Grounded in lived experience, her voice brings an authentic and relatable perspective that resonates with families and communities alike.

Her vision includes strengthening support systems across South Africa, helping families recognise early signs, connect with the right professionals, and access timely, informed care. She also aims to develop practical resources and training for families and educators, offering clear guidance, education, and tools to support children with compassion and confidence.

At the heart of Aliza’s work is a simple yet powerful goal: a world where Tourette syndrome is understood, accepted, and met with empathy—free from stigma or misunderstanding. Through her advocacy, she hopes to contribute to a growing global movement where individuals with TS are fully seen, respected, and included.

“Tourette Syndrome is real. It’s misunderstood. Let’s change that.”
